In plain English: be fair with us and we'll be fair with you. If you buy as a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

1. About us

MTD Match is a trading name of Highfold Group Ltd (company number 17521208, registered in England and Wales). Registered office: Office 21848, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, E6 2JA. When you use MTD Match (mtdmatch.co.uk) or buy from us, your contract is with Highfold Group Ltd. Contact us at hello@mtdmatch.co.uk.

2. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Payments are taken securely by Stripe. If we make an obvious pricing error we'll tell you before going ahead.

3. Your account and subscription

You must give accurate details and keep your login secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each month until cancelled.
You can cancel at any time from your account in a couple of clicks; your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
If a payment fails we'll let you know and give you time to update your card before limiting your account.
We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. You can cancel before the change takes effect.

4. Your content

You own the information you put into MTD Match. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service. You can export or delete it at any time. You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for any documents you generate and use.

5. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no unlawful content, no attempts to break or overload it, no reselling access without our written agreement.

6. Availability

We work hard to keep MTD Match available and backed up, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted. We'll give notice of planned maintenance where we can.

Information, not tax advice

MTD Match explains HMRC's published rules in plain English and gives you tools to get organised. We check our content against GOV.UK and date it, but rules change and everyone's situation is different. Our checker gives an indication based on your answers. HMRC's own records and notices decide your obligations. We are not an accountancy firm, we are not HMRC-recognised software and we don't send anything to HMRC.

The spreadsheet kit

The MTD-Ready Spreadsheet Kit is a digital product licensed for use by the buyer's own business (or, for accountants, for their own clients). You're responsible for the figures you enter and send. To send quarterly updates you need HMRC-recognised bridging software.

Accountant introductions

When you ask us to find you an accountant, we share your details with one accountancy practice only, because you asked us to. First we offer your request to member practices that cover your postcode district. If none has space, we may tell up to 5 accountancy firms near you about it, without your name, contact details or message, and only the one that takes it gets your details. Firms found this way haven't joined MTD Match before and we haven't checked their work. Accountants are independent businesses; we don't employ them, we don't take a fee from you and we're not responsible for the advice or services they provide. You can withdraw at any time from the link in our emails. If the practice tells us it couldn't reach you on the details you gave, we'll email you. We only introduce you to a different practice if you ask us to.

For accountancy practices (business customers only)

MTD Match is for businesses. By creating a practice account you confirm you act for your business, so consumer cancellation rights don't apply.
Pay as you go: enquiries cost £20 each. You pay when you take an enquiry, before we show you the person's details. A firm's first enquiry is free when we invite it, once per firm.
Monthly plans: Local £99 a month for up to 5 enquiries in up to 4 postcode districts, Practice £149 a month for up to 10 enquiries in up to 8 postcode districts, Growth £249 a month for up to 20 enquiries in up to 15 postcode districts. Plans renew monthly until you cancel from the billing portal; your plan runs to the end of the month you've paid for. We don't guarantee a minimum number of enquiries, because enquiries depend on demand in your districts. Unused allowance doesn't roll over.
No refunds: payments for plans and enquiries aren't refundable, except that if an enquiry's contact details are clearly false you can return it from your portal within 7 days and we'll refund it (pay as you go), give your free enquiry back, or not count it towards your allowance (plans). If the person withdraws within 7 days and before you've marked them contacted, we do the same.
Taking an enquiry: the first practice to accept gets it; it's exclusive and never resold. Please contact the person within 2 working days and record the outcome in your portal.
Their data: you become a controller of the person's details and must handle them under UK GDPR. Use them only to respond to that enquiry; don't add them to marketing lists without their separate consent; delete them if we tell you the person has withdrawn and you haven't started working for them.
Your firm: you confirm you're supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes and that the professional details in your account are true. We may close an account that breaks these terms.

Our liability

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't legally be limited. If you use MTD Match for business purposes, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, and we're not liable for lost profit, revenue or business opportunity.

MTD Match provides software, templates and general information to help you organise your obligations. It isn't legal, financial or professional advice and doesn't replace a qualified adviser for your specific situation.

Complaints

If something's gone wrong, email hello@mtdmatch.co.uk and we'll aim to resolve it within 14 days.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
